EMT to Paramedic Course Ready to Roll

Students get hands-on help to jumpstart their careers

OSF HealthCare Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac is announcing open registration for its upcoming EMT to Paramedic Course.

This course will include formal classroom instruction, paired with a variety of clinical rotations at OSF Healthcare Saint James in Pontiac, OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington and OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Students will also take part in a comprehensive field internship within the OSF Healthcare Saint James EMS system.

The year-long EMT to Paramedic Course will run from May 30, 2018 through June 26, 2019. The eight-hour class will meet every Wednesday. Some Saturday classes and labs will be required.

The cost is $4,500 for current providers within the OSF HealthCare Saint James EMS system and $5,200 for out-of-system providers. This includes all books, class shirt, scrubs, ID badge, background check and additional required training. There are payment options available.

There is a mandatory orientation meeting March 28, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at OSF HealthCare Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center (2500 West Reynolds Street, Pontiac, Illinois). This meeting will cover program admittance guidelines, payment options, the course schedule and the program’s internship expectations.

The EMT to Paramedic Course will follow all EMS National Education Standards, National EMS Scope of Practice Model, and CoAEMSP standards, and will comply with IDPH rules and regulations.
