Ribbon Cutting Held for OSF HealthCare Center for Health - Pekin

Patients to be seen at new facility beginning April 17

A blessing ceremony and ribbon cutting was held for the new OSF HealthCare Center for Health – Pekin on Thursday, April 6, 2017. It’s located in the East Court Village Shopping Center at 3422A Court Street, Pekin.

Patients will been seen at the Center for Health – Pekin beginning Monday, April 17, 2017. A public open house for the new facility is set for Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. – noon.

In her welcoming remarks, Sister Judith Ann Duvall, O.S.F., Chairperson of the OSF HealthCare Boards of Directors, called the new center an investment in health care in the community, and a serene, beautiful facility that will complement the quality of care provided there. “Our OSF Mission has not changed in 140 years of health care. We serve persons with the greatest care and love in the Spirit of Christ, who spent much of his time on Earth caring for the sick and needy and coaching others to be caring in all ways. It is a powerful example for us.

OSF HealthCare has a long-standing history of providing health care to Pekin and surrounding communities, but more than a year ago, we recognized the need for the residents of Pekin to have more access to health care services – especially preventative care and services that could be performed on an outpatient basis,” said Charles Dennis, MD, Senior Vice President of OSF Medical Group – Central Region. “This Center for Health allows Pekin residents to remain closer to home and not have to travel out of town for care.”

The Center for Health – Pekin will offer primary care providers with same day appointments and access to specialists in areas such as orthopedics, general surgery, urology, podiatry, physiatry, and rheumatology, in addition to lab services, EKGs and X-rays.

With the health care landscape constantly changing, we have to be proactive in our approach, and this facility represents that proactive thinking.

“With the health care landscape constantly changing, we have to be proactive in our approach, and this facility represents that proactive thinking,” said Mike Cruz, MD, President of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. “Designed with our patients in mind, this center is more than just a doctor’s office. It is a convenient hub in the community that provides the kind of services people desire, without requiring a trip to a hospital.”

Monsignor Michael Bliss conducted the Holy Blessing of the new facility. It is a tradition at OSF HealthCare to not see patients or move into new buildings until they are blessed as a family. Following a ribbon cutting, those in attendance were able to tour the new Center for Health – Pekin.
