Tennis Team Visits Young Patients

Members of the Washington Community High School Girls Tennis Team paid a visit to OSF HealthCare Children's Hospital of Illinois on Thursday, October 5.

Some of the Lady Panthers varsity and junior varsity players made a decision early in their season to donate hair to the non-profit organization Children with Hair Loss prior to their sectionals match. In advance, they paid a visit to patients at OSF Children's Hospital, some of whom that might benefit from their hair donations.

While the majority of patients the girls visited won't receive their gift - it will be used elsewhere - the team sees it as a chance to give back to their community and put smiles on young faces. They even performed a version of "Go, Cubs, Go!" for one young fan.

Many of players have been growing their hair since the start of last season, looking forward to the big cut which will take place on October 11 in advance of sectionals.
