As part of National Rural Health Day November 16, the Chartis Center for Rural Health/iVantage Health Analytics and the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH) have announced overall excellence rankings, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation.

Four OSF HealthCare hospitals were recognized for excellence in quality, outcomes and/or patient satisfaction.

Small, rural and critical access hospitals achieving “Excellence in Outcomes” include OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth; and OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center, Mendota.

Those achieving “Excellence in Patient Satisfaction” include OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth; OSF HealthCare Saint Luke Medical Center, Kewanee; and OSF Saint Paul Medical Center, Mendota.

Critical Access Hospital (CAH) is a designation given to certain rural hospitals by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is designed to improve access to healthcare by keeping essential services in rural communities. A CAH must have 25 or fewer acute care inpatient beds.
