Sisters Take to the Ice

It's a winter past time that can transport you back to childhood - ice skating. As we get older, life, location and vocation can get in the way - and take you away from the rink. So when given the opportunity, the joy the rink once brought returns.

Three Sisters from The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George, which owns OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Health Center in Alton, Illinois, got the chance to lace up the skates and take to the ice as part of PNC Winterfest in downtown Peoria, Illinois.

It had been 20 years since Sister M. Talitha Eckstine skated, and Sister M. Rosalinda Drees last skated when she was about 10. After some initial tentative steps and laps around the rink, both found their stride, even doing some spins and backwards skating. Both called the ice time wonderful and exciting.

While not donning ice skates, Sister M. Mikela Meidl, Executive Vice President for OSF HealthCare, did make a run down the adjacent ice slide on a tube, declaring it fun.
