                        <title>James McGee, MD, appointed founding director of the OSF Cancer Institute</title>

                        <guid>https://newsroom.osfhealthcare.org/james-mcgee-md-appointed-founding-director-of-the-osf-cancer-institute/</guid><pp:caseid>620442</pp:caseid><description><![CDATA[<img src="https://content.presspage.com/uploads/1873/80b5932d-c2bf-4b0d-a519-a455c6031925/1920_img-3273.jpg?10000"><p>James McGee, MD, has been appointed the founding director of the OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. McGee will serve as a clinical leader in the development and implementation of research, innovation, clinical and academic initiatives at the OSF Cancer Institute.&nbsp;</p><p>He will be responsible, in collaboration with the institute’s executive leadership, for creating a compelling vision to ensure the OSF Cancer Institute becomes a leader in cancer care and cancer research that attracts leading physician-scientists nationwide.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. McGee will work alongside Tom Cox, vice president, Oncology Services.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. McGee has served the OSF HealthCare Ministry since 1988 and is director of Oncology Services for OSF, as well as medical director of Radiation Oncology at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.&nbsp;</p><p>Some of Dr. McGee’s recent accomplishments include collaborating with the University of Illinois Cancer Center at Urbana, the University of Illinois College of Medicine and Origin Commercial Ventures, which led to the development of the Breakthrough Treatment Center at the OSF Cancer Institute and the BEAT Cancer Research Initiative.&nbsp;</p><p>These efforts bring early phase cancer control and treatment to patients with an emphasis on engineering to advance cancer care.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. McGee also led the development of the innovative design of the Radiation Oncology facility for the OSF Cancer Institute.&nbsp;</p><p>Dr. McGee earned his Bachelor of Science from Quincy College and his medical degree from the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago.                         <title>OSF HealthCare Earns 2023 Most Wired Award</title>

This marks the twelfth straight year OSF has achieved this honor.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0px;text-align:left;"><span>The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive “Digital Health Check-up” for health care organizations across the world. The annual survey assesses how effectively core and advanced technologies are applied&nbsp;</span><span style="background-color:white;"><span>to improve health care.</span></span></p><p style="margin-left:0px;text-align:left;"><span>Participants receive certification based on their overall performance, with level 10 being the highest. This year<strong>&nbsp;OSF HealthCare is honored to be Level 9 certified in Ambulatory Care technology and Level 9 certified in Acute Care technology.</strong>&nbsp;This is a marked achievement; OSF has seen its certification levels rise across all 15 hospitals, advancing from a Level 7 in both categories in 2019 to today’s achievements of Level 9.</span></p><p style="margin-left:0px;text-align:left;"><span>“We are elated to earn Digital Health Most Wired recognition for both our hospitals and clinics for the twelfth straight year.
