Going Full 'Circle' for New Moms
OSF HealthCare Launches Free Pregnancy App
Being a new mother comes with a lot of questions. That's why OSF HealthCare has launched Circle by OSF, a no-cost app that provides local, OSF-approved resources and tools for expectant and new moms.
"It will help women care for themselves and their families throughout their entire jouney," says Amy Williams, Patient Care Manager, OB/Pediatrics, at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center.
"You actually put that in the app," says Williams. And it then starts a whole new track, into a pediatric track. It's following them your newborn - your newborn is, you know, it has a breastfeeding tracker, so you can tell how much it's feeding, how much it's wetting and making sure they're getting enough fluid intake. It then gives you a to-do list for the babies as, it's this many days old, this is what you can expect, you need to see your pediatrician."
Providing weekly updates on a baby's development during pregnancy and for the first year, Circle by OSF gives mom's direction and actions to take every week and month of their child's growth and development.
"I also think that it decreases anxiety in patients, because it's at their fingertips" says Chris Kruk, parinatal educator at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. And with this new generation that we have out there, they want information right on their phones and this is exactly what this app does."
Tracking tools, such as those for weight gain, kick counters and feedings, allow moms to record and share information with their providers. And Circle by OSF can be customized to the user's needs.
"I think this is a great service we're providing to out patients," says Amy Williams, Patient Care Manager OB/Pediatrics at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. It's another way we're using technology to really reach our patients and meet them where they're at. That's the new day and age."
The free Circle by OSF app can be downloaded to your smartphone brom the App Store or Google Play.
