Two OSF HealthCare Hospitals Recognized Among Top Hospitals in the US
OSF HealthCare Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth joined OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group in Escanaba, Michigan among the top 118 hospitals in the nation according to health care watchdog Leapfrog Group in its annual report. on health care. Leapfrog chooses the top hospitals based on safety, quality and use of resources.
Among thousands of hospitals in the country, OSF Holy Family Medical Center and OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group each received Top Rural Hospital distinction, recognized nationally alongside:
- 13 Top Children’s Hospitals
- 35 Top General Hospitals
- 17 Top Rural Hospitals
- 53 Top Teaching Hospitals
The Leapfrog Top Rural Hospital Award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive.
“We are honored to have once again been named among this elite group of hospitals,” said Dave Lord, President of OSF St. Francis. “Being named a Top Hospital is a rewarding reflection of the work our physicians and staff do, and the exceptional care they provide for those we serve.”
OSF Holy Family Medical Center President Patty Luker echoed the sentiment. “We are very proud of our team for achieving this level of excellence in health quality.” Luker added, “This is truly a team effort that recognizes our dedication to delivering a health care experience of which our patients and staff can be proud.”
Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than six percent of eligible hospitals nationwide,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
This is the second year in a row OSF Holy Family received the recognition and the sixth year for the award to Michigan-based OSF Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Group.
