OSF hospitals earn first-ever Magnet recognition

OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center and OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center have received their first-ever Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizing excellence in nursing practice and patient care.

Magnet recognition is one of the nation's highest honors for nursing excellence. The ANCC Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing philosophy and practice, leadership and adherence to national standards for improving patient care. Hospitals undergo a rigorous evaluation that includes extensive interviews and review of nursing services, clinical outcomes and patient care.

OSF HealthCare locations included in this recent recognition are:

·     OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center - Ottawa

·     OSF HealthCare Saint Elizabeth Medical Center - Peru

·     OSF Center for Health – Streator

·     OSF HealthCare Saint Paul Medical Center – Mendota

Nationwide, only 10% of hospitals are Magnet. There are 54 health care facilities in Illinois that have earned Magnet status, mostly in the Chicago area. OSF leaders will travel to Chicago in October of this year to be honored in person at the ANCC Magnet & Pathways Conference.
