Work Starts on $24 Million Medical Office Building

As part of its ongoing investment in central Illinois, OSF HealthCare broke ground Wednesday on its new Medical Office Building in Bloomington. The new building will be located on the OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center campus at 210 St. Joseph Drive.

The $24 million, 53,000 square foot, three-story building will be home to primary care providers, OSF PromptCare, Infusion Clinic, occupational health services and OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute.

“It’s so exciting to turn some dirt and to start to realize what we’ve been at now for frankly many years,” said Chad Boore, CEO, OSF HealthCare Eastern Region. “The vision for this goes back some time. It’s exciting to be able to bring this to our community, to provide more access to primary care, and really to create a differentiating experience when it comes to our cardiovascular patients.”

In this new building, OSF HealthCare Mission Partners will provide services tailored for each patient, no matter how they access health care.

According to Boore, the new medical office building will offer a valuable service to Bloomington and the surrounding communities, when it comes to access to care.

“This building should be a draw in that it’s an opportunity for wellness and prevention, but also under the same roof is access to high end diagnostics,” he said. “So from an ease standpoint, from a ‘less disrupting of my day’ standpoint is the ability to get done what I need to get done, and when I want it done, in a much more coordinated and team-based fashion.”

The first floor will contain an OSF PromptCare and occupational health services. The second floor of the building will house the OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute. This will include 20 exam rooms, an Infusion Clinic and 6 procedure rooms for non-invasive testing.

This new location will bring together cardiovascular services that are currently spread out over three locations on the medical center campus. According to Dr. Yogesh Agarwal, Lead Physician,

OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute Eastern Region, this setup could help improve a patient’s overall health.

“I think looking to the future, we can try to help patients stay out of the hospital with some of the features that this building brings in,” said Dr. Agarwal. “So I think it’s exciting. It’s going to make our patients happier, give them a greater, more comprehensive experience. I think it will be great.”

When construction is complete, a number of OSF HealthCare primary care and family medicine providers will be relocated to the third floor clinic area. The new space will have 25 exam rooms, a procedure room and three stations for lab work such as blood draws.

“A lot of the services will be delivered in one building. There will be on-site x-ray, there will be on-site lab, there will be on-site cardiology services. So I think all of this is convenient for the patient. It’s done in an outpatient arena, as opposed to inpatient facilities,” said Dr. Richard Ginnetti, Director of Physician Practice, OSF HealthCare Medical Group, Eastern Region.

Construction is expected to be completed in August of 2019.
