OSF HealthCare tops in Illinois for patient-centered care

OSF Medical Group – Primary Care clinics were recently recognized as leaders in patient-centered care for the ninth year in a row. This year, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognized a total of 62 OSF Medical Group – Primary Care clinics as meeting the rigorous standards of the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model.

The PCMH model is a nationally-recognized standard of care emphasizing patient-centered access and continuity, care management and support, care coordination and transitions, and performance measurement and quality improvement. Out of 513 physician practices recognized in the state of Illinois, OSF HealthCare had the largest number of clinics to receive the PCMH recognition this year. Currently, OSF HealthCare leads Illinois health systems as the best patient-centered health care option.

“A special congratulations is due in large part to OSF’s frontline Mission Partners and primary care clinicians for their efforts,” said Steve Hippler, M.D., chief clinical officer, OSF HealthCare multi-specialty services. “We will continue to work diligently to achieve PCMH status again in 2022.”

Practices that meet the PCMH model standards are associated with lower overall health care costs, higher staff satisfaction, improvements in patient-centered access and more efficient care management and auditing systems. In addition, payers who look for quality health care offer financial incentives for health systems that receive PCMH recognition.

Since 2012, the OSF Medical Group has annually met these standards of excellence and demonstrated commitment to offering value-based care.
